The first days of school are only 5 days away and the anticipation is growing. In our continued effort to reduce anxiety and confusion, the schedules (posted here and here) have all the details for these important starting days. Teachers will (or have already) send these details via email.
I feel it is important to provide an explanation for the calendar adjustment of the PK4A and our intention for the use of the day.
Our PreK For All Calendar was not approved by NYCDOE and, therefore, could not be approved by the Archiocese unless it complied with several criteria from both entities. This made the addition of Wednesday as a school day a necessity.
Knowing that this could make it difficult for parents and work schedules, Wednesday morning is intended to be part of our "soft opening of school" and a very informal gathering of students, parents and teachers. It is not "Mission Critical" if it is inconvenient to attend.
Thursday is most important as it provides the opportunity to transition to the classroom, separate from parents, learn about spaces within the classroom and school, etc.
Friday is an extension of Thursday as it allows for a larger amount of time separated from parents and interacting with classmates and teachers.
The schedule for the Early Childhood Center can be found here.
The schedule for Orientation Day can be found here.
We have a Community Service Opportunity for our Middle School students on Wednesday, September 4th from 8:00 - 9:30AM. Students should arrive at 7:55AM and report to the Play Yard.
More information will be shared with everyone at our Orientation Day, Thursday. The SMSPA has organized some fun for our students and plenty of informaiton sharing, as well.
Last, our new students will have the opportunity to get their photo taken for their Student ID's on Thursday.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone in a few days.
